CHICAGO (Oct. 14, 2026) – Chicago Fire FC (14-9-6, 48 points) fell 3-1 against the Philadelphia Union (13-10-6, 45 points) on Wednesday night at Soldier Field.

Winger Maren Haile-Selassie scored in a third consecutive match for the second time this season. Chicago remained in position for a second consecutive postseason berth at fourth place in the Eastern Conference at the end of the match.

The visitors conceded most of the possession to Chicago from the outset. The Fire took advantage in the 43rd minute as Jonathan Bamba recovered a long ball from Jonathan Dean on the left side. The winger calmly played the ball to left back Noah Allen, who pulled a pass back to the top of the box for Haile-Selassie to knock home.

Shortly after taking the lead, the Fire went down to 10 men following a second yellow card to center back Jack Elliott. Philadelphia exploited the numerical advantage to kick off the second half, countering five minutes in with forward Milan Iloski's fifth goal in the last four matches he has contested.

Philadelphia took the lead in the 55th minute, as midfielder Cavan Sullivan played the ball across goal for forward Bruno Damiani to tap home. Damiani then completed a brace in the 67th minute, getting on the end of a counter to seal the result.
